Children are assessed every 6 weeks to ensure correct groupings and monitor progression. Practitioners will also discuss pupils progress continuously to support all learners; those who are ready to move before the 6 week asessment window and those who are strugling with certain sounds, blending etc. These children can be reassessed, trailed in a new group or put on a short term intervention where spesific issues can be adressed swiftly. We review the intervention lists as and when requaired and also inlight of the assessments. There are some children (often our SEND children) who are taught 1:1 or 1:2 to support thier specifc needs and learning style, if needed we can adapt the RWInc scheme to meet the childrens needs, these children are still assessed every 6 weeks.

As a school we have a consitent approach from reception up through KS1, and further if the children require the scaffolding and terminolgy to support both their reading and spelling. Terms such as Fred Fingers to count how many sounds are in a word (to support spelling), Fred Talk to sound out a word (to support reading) and the use of speed sound charts in all classrooms. All children are assessment and supported to achieve their full potentional in reading through following the RWInc scheme.
