Reception 2018 - 2019

Mrs Warner

Reception Teacher & Assistant Headteacher (EYFS & KS1)

Hi all,

We continue to enjoy a great year in Reception. Phonics, reading, writing and mathematics learning is happening every day in school and all the children are making good progress. We have been asking you to support us recently as we have started to learn a greater number of high frequency words ( tricky or red words). These are the words that the children can not currently read using the sounds they know from phonics. The more words the children read the greater the range of books available to them. We will continue to work through the first 100 words with all the children for the rest of this year.

Our current topic is all about " Our Wonderful World". We have looked at people who help us and now are learning about animals from all around the world and the different habitats that they need to survive. Alongside all of this we are looking at recycling and protecting the environment. The level of knowledge and interest that your children are demonstrating is truly wonderful.

You will soon have the opportunity to talk to us about your child's particular development , what they are doing well at and what you can support them with. We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Warner, Miss Cleaver and Mrs Smith
