Reception 2017 - 2018

Mrs Warner

Reception Teacher & Assistant Headteacher (EYFS & KS1)

We have just had a fantastic term celebrating stories and applying what we know into our Superhero theme. The children have loved dressing up and re enacting familiar stories or making up stories of their own.

We have started the transition from EYFS to year 1 to prepare your children for next year. By starting this process early we can make sure that they get the support they need at every stage.

We have a daily phonics lesson in line with the whole school ReadWriteInc scheme. Apologies for having to cancel the reading/phonics meeting. This will take place as soon as we can rearrange it but in the meantime see the links in the web page.

Thanks to all who attended parents evening. As always it us a great opportunity to celebrate your child's success and to focus on their next steps. For those who did not manage to make the meetings we will rearrange as soon as possible this term.

This is our final term together and it is a very busy one. As well as all the wonderful events happening in school we will be working very hard to make sure that we are ready to make the move to KS1. To help us please read read and read some more with your children. As well as being a lovely shared experience it will help your child be a confident and enthusiastic learner.

Our theme for the term is 'What a Wonderful World'. We will be investigating the world around us and discovering about animals and plants. We will be talking about growth and change and about looking after the environment. Look out for the homework tasks that will relate to what we are learning each week!
